I am your host, Marci Nettles. I have had a lifetime of opportunities where I had the choice to either Breakdown r Breakthrough... did I always make the "right" choice? Nope. I did however find a way to continue moving forward until I was able to see there was a path through my chaos into JOY!
This Podcast may become your light in the darkness, as you listen to the stories of people I consider "heroes." Each one had a point where they too had to choose to ether Breakdown or Breakthrough!
In this episode you will be blessed by Joey Garza's story of how he knew he was different at a young age, being challenged by depression and yet knowing he had to put on a "happy" face, doing what many with Bipolar disorder do... becoming the life of the party and the class clown. Joey will share his struggles from his youth into his young adult life in the military where he was finally diagnosed and that diagnosis changed everything...
Joey Garza is a USAF Veteran and the Founder/CEO of Above the Stigma. He was diagnosed with Bipolar Type 1 in 2015 after his manic episodes had left him feeling incapable of stability, peace and happiness. He was aa victim to his own mental illness which lead to excessive spending, sex addiction, constant anxiety, failed relationships and even two suicide attempts.
He could have given up and accepted this was who he was. He could have acknowledged the brokenness that he felt was his reality... until 2020 lead to the manic depressive episode that changed his life.
He is here to tell you that you matter and he is so happy you are listening today!
