In this episode, myself and Julie Christie discuss her experience as a young girl having asymmetrical breasts and being told she needed an implant to correct her “problem”. The implant led to devastating health issues until she learned of Breast Implant Illness and had the implant removed.
At the age of 17, Julie Christie was influenced by a female doctor who told her that her uneven breasts were a birth defect and that with simple breast augmentation surgery her ‘problem’ would be corrected. She believed the surgeon's words when she was told, "It's good for your life and no one will notice." The doctor left out one crucial piece of information: to educate her about the negative consequences on her health. For 30 years, this prosthesis did its damaging work.
