EPISODE  7: “You’re WORTHY, What Now?”

Hello and WELCOME to the “You’re _______, What now?” Podcast!

I am your host, Marci Nettles. I have had a lifetime of opportunities where I had the choice to Breakdown or Breakthrough... did I always make the “right” choice?  Nope.  I did however find a way to continue moving forward until I was able to see there was a path through my chaos into joy.  This Podcast may become your light in the darkness, as you listen to the stories of people I consider “heroes.” Each one had a point where they too had to choose to either Breakdown or Breakthrough!

In this episode you will hear Pastor Charles Coleman share his story of being a child with ADHD growing up in a time that ADHD was not known or understood.  This led him through a childhood of being misunderstood, punished, and not being seen as he knew himself to be, WORTHY!

Charles Coleman holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Elementary Education and Physical Education.  He also has a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Intervention of At-Risk Children.  As a teacher, he taught 8th grade science and English, taught Physical Education grades K-8, led Behavioral Intervention Teams, coached several sports at the elementary level and coached baseball at the high school level.  Coach Coleman always went out of his way to make a positive difference in the lives of the children he taught. He received a commendation from the city of Glendale, AZ, for helping to bring a classroom of students to safety; He did so by deescalating the 14-year-old gunman and convincing him to let the girls in the class go. Coach Coleman retired from teaching in 2005 and to this day many of his students stay in touch with him.

After 28 years of teaching in the public education system, Charles, or Charlie as he’s better known, retired, but his retirement was short lived.  Along with his wife and brother-in-law and in partnership with Skyway Church in Goodyear, AZ, he co-founded a non-profit counseling organization called Window to Healing, Inc.  For almost 10 years, he served as a counselor bringing healing to the hearts and minds of people of many different ages.  Again, many of those he counseled contact him still today.

Charlie is also a staff pastor at Skyway Church.  He has served in many different capacities at Skyway since 1985.  He is an excellent vocalist and has served in the worship ministry, marriage ministry, and as a pastoral counselor.  Pastor Charlie is well loved and respected.

Sports have been a big part of Charlie’s life.  He played football and baseball throughout school, coached both sports as an adult, and has officiated baseball and football for many years.  He continues to officiate high school and youth football today.

Charlie has been married to his wife, Loraine, since 1972.  They have two married children and 11 grandchildren. He is an example of a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
